Terms of Service
Last updated: May 31, 2026
1. Service
Crouter provides an API proxy service that gives you access to AI models including Claude (Opus and Sonnet) and GPT through standard API formats. You can use your API key in any tool or application that supports the Anthropic or OpenAI API format, including Hermes Agent, OpenClaw, Cline, Cursor, Claude Code, and your own applications. We do not restrict where or how you use your API key.
2. Accounts
You must create an account to use Crouter. You are responsible for keeping your account credentials and API key secure. Do not share your API key with others. One active API key per account at a time.
3. Billing
Crouter is prepaid and pay-as-you-go. You add funds to your balance by card through Stripe and are charged per token in real time for each request, based on the model used. There are no subscriptions and no monthly minimums. Whatever you do not use stays as your balance.
4. Refunds
Your balance is prepaid API credit for usage on Crouter. You may request a refund of your unused balance within 7 days of the deposit. Approved refunds are returned to your original payment card.
Two things are non-refundable: (1) balance that has already been consumed through API usage, and (2) the payment processing fee charged by our payment processor, Stripe (approximately 2.9% + $0.30 per transaction). That fee is charged to us at the moment you pay and is not returned to us when we issue a refund, so it cannot be included in the refunded amount. For example, on a $100 deposit that you have not spent, the refundable amount is approximately $96.80.
After 7 days, deposits are non-refundable but your balance never expires and remains available for API usage. If the service is permanently discontinued, we will refund remaining unused balances. To request a refund, contact us at contact@crouter.dev with your account email.
5. Rate Limits
Rate limits vary by plan. All plans include generous request limits designed for heavy development use. If you need higher limits, contact us at contact@crouter.dev and we will accommodate your needs.
6. Acceptable Use
You agree not to use Crouter for any illegal or harmful purposes. You must comply with the usage policies of the underlying model providers (Anthropic, OpenAI, Google) when using their models through our service. We reserve the right to suspend or terminate accounts that violate these terms.
7. Service Availability
Crouter proxies requests to upstream AI providers. Our uptime depends on the availability of those providers' infrastructure. We do not guarantee any specific uptime percentage. When your balance is too low to cover a request, the request will return an error until you add funds.
8. Limitation of Liability
Crouter is provided "as is" without warranties of any kind. We are not liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from your use of the service. Our total liability is limited to the amount you paid for the current billing period.
9. Changes
We may update these terms at any time. Continued use of Crouter after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated terms. We will notify you of significant changes via email.
